Course Description
Hemodynamic monitoring and management of the critically ill patient will be studied. An overview of the neonate and pediatric patient will be presented with emphasis on the treatment and management of those with cardiopulmonary disease. Advanced pulmonary function testing and the interpretation of the test results, bronchoscopy and chest tubes also will be covered.
Prerequisite(s)
RESP 2213, RESP 2225, RESP 2411, and RESP 2445 with grades of C or better - Must be completed prior to taking this course.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Distinguish pulmonary function tests and imaging data
- Manage hemodynamic and critical care data to make recommendations in the respiratory care plan based on the patient's response
- Anticipate appropriate management of the neonatal and pediatric patient with cardiopulmonary disease
- Adapt NRP guidelines to patient scenarios
