Course Description
This hybrid course provides precise and detailed information on image analysis and pathology of the biliary system; urinary system; cranium; sella turcica and petrous bones; facial bones; optic foramen; mandible; temporomandibular joint (TMJ); sinuses; temporal bones of the skull and face; spine to include cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum and coccyx; and ribs to include sternum and mammary glands. Reading assignments and preparation time are included. Skills acquired in this course enable the student to understand the importance of determining adequate radiographs.
Prerequisite(s)
XRAY 1033, XRAY 1212, and XRAY 1316 - Must be completed prior to taking this course. XRAY 1042, XRAY 1053, and XRAY 1326 - Must be taken at the same time as this course.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate image analysis of the urinary system, cranium, facial bones, sinuses, spine, and bony thorax through unit exams.
- Analyze radiographic images pertaining to the urinary system, cranium, facial bones, sinuses, spine, and bony thorax.
- Apply medical terminology pertaining to the anatomy and pathology of the human body in order to understand radiographic orders and interpret diagnostic imaging reports.
- Evaluate patient condition through patient assessment.
- Demonstrate proper techniques and documentation of blood pressure, pulse, and respirations.
- Evaluate emergency response to trauma and changes to routine imaging procedures.
