This certificate focuses on job skills plus current and emerging industry demands. Students will learn about electrical systems, high-voltage safety, and operation of electrified vehicles. Emphasis is on safety, systems, thermal management, and diagnostic procedures. Students learn skills including high-voltage shut down, testing electrical circuits, and using computer scanners to check systems. This credential is stackable with other automotive programs, meaning it counts in part toward the Automotive Technology advanced certificate and AAS degree.
Students use the state-of-the-art automotive lab and professional tools. The program was developed to meet industry needs. Coursework was developed with input from experts in the field.
- Apply safety procedures related to high-voltage components, including proper use of personal protective equipment and system disable/enable methods
- Interpret electrical schematics and circuit operation for diagnostic purposes
- Explain the operation of electrified vehicle systems, including major components and energy flow
- Diagnose faults in electrified vehicle systems using appropriate diagnostic tools
- Analyze thermal management system operation related to vehicle electrical and climate control systems
