Course Description

This course will provide essential knowledge on how to verify the safety of electric vehicles before working on or around them. Students will learn key safety protocols, inspection techniques, and how to assess potential hazards, ensuring a safe environment for both the technician and the vehicle.

Prerequisite(s)

None

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Apply proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the safe handling and servicing of electric vehicles.
  • Classify electric vehicles, explain their basic operation, and identify key components and systems.
  • Identify and analyze the dangers of working on electrified vehicles, explaining electrical risks and safety precautions to mitigate hazards.
  • Identify emergency response roles for electrified vehicle incidents, understand response protocols, and ensure safety and coordination during an emergency.
  • Explain the purpose and function of a high-voltage interlock system in an electrified vehicle.
