Course Description

This course is taken second semester of the program. It provides an introduction to historical development in nursing, the conceptual framework and philosophy of the nursing program. It is designed to present an understanding of nursing in the community and develop a recognition of the needs and methods available for health care.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe effective communication with clients and health care team members.
  • Describe attributes of caring in a person-centered nursing environment.
  • Demonstrate essential components of health and wellness promotion.
  • Identify the nurse’s role in collaboration with the health care team in various settings.
  • Identify current roles and trends in the management of care of resources in various health care settings
  • Identify the legal aspects of the Nurse Practice Act.
