Course Description
Students will observe/participate in programmed clinical experiences within the radiology departments at area hospitals. Each student in this course must have a physical exam, criminal background check without any disqualifying convictions and a negative drug screen.
Prerequisite(s)
XRAY 1014 - Must be completed prior to taking this course. XRAY 1033 and XRAY 1212 - Must be taken at the same time as this course.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Produce under direct supervision with assistance from a registered Radiologic Technologists proper positioning of select upper and lower extremities to complete requirements of a practice clinical competency (Pre-COE)
  • Manage confidentiality of patients, their radiographs, and pertinent patient information as enforced by HIPPA.
  • Utilize medical terminology pertinent to radiographic anatomy and positioning, recording accurate patient history, and in the interpretation of diagnostic reports.
  • Describe the principles, practices, and policies of the health care organization and the responsibilities of the radiographer.
  • Identify the philosophical basis of ethics and proper ethical behavior.
  • Develop proper patient care skills including physical and psychological needs of the patient and their family.
  • Recognize the factors that influence the production and recording of radiologic images.
  • Operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.
  • Exhibit proper radiation protection responsibilities for radiography personnel, patients, and the public.
  • Recognize patients, patients’ families, and professional peers diverse backgrounds due to their value system, cultural and ethnic influences, communication styles socioeconomic influences, health risks, and life stages.
