Course Description
This course will cover the scope, purpose, and function of private security. It includes methods and systems of loss prevention, relationship with local law enforcement systems, criminal and civil laws, fire safety, and situational instruction in the simulation lab.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain the history of private security.
  • Identify the problems of keeping the information infrastructure secure.
  • Discuss the rights of security personnel to arrest or detain individuals.
  • Identify the common types of civil liability suits that involve private security
  • Describe private security’s role in creating a drug-free workplace.
  • Discuss the safety procedures on the firing range.
  • Explain the proper procedures for leading and firing a pistol.
  • Explain the proper pistol cleaning procedures.
