Course Description
The student will participate in respiratory therapy situations emphasizing patient assessment, oxygen therapy, bronchial hygiene skills, and aerosol medications. Each student in this course must have a physical exam, criminal background check without any disqualifying convictions and a negative drug screen.
Prerequisite(s)
RESP 1445 with a grade of C or better - Must be completed prior to taking this course.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Report pertinent clinical information using the medical record, patient interview, and physical assessment.
- Observe infection control procedures according to facility policies.
- Practice all assigned respiratory therapy procedures competently.
- Assess the appropriateness of the prescribed respiratory care plan
- Describe respiratory procedures to patients based on their level of comprehension
