It is possible for a student to take a small grouping of courses which, taken as a unit, may satisfy requirements for a particular position within the automotive technology field. The student may make written application to the Office of Admissions and Registration to receive written verification of completion of the certificate program.

- Explain manual transmission operation, repair, and power flow.
- Explain universal joint’s function and operation.
- Explain differential operation and theory.
- Identify automatic transmission/transaxle components.
- Perform general transmission and transaxle diagnosis.
- Perform transmission/transaxle maintenance and adjustment.
- Perform transmission/transaxle repair.
- Perform disassembly and assembly of an automatic transmission/transaxle.
