Course Description
This course is the culmination of the Medical Laboratory Technology program. It provides the student the means to do a comprehensive review in preparation to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification exam or other certifying agency exam. The course also helps prepare students to be workforce ready by giving them the opportunity to perform and teach others important skills used by medical personnel. Lastly, students will compile a working resume and interview skills that can be used when applying for positions in the medical laboratory.
Prerequisite(s)
MEDT 2214 and MEDT 2044 - Must be completed prior to taking this course.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Research a procedure utilized in the clinical laboratory and teach other lab professionals that specific lab skill.
- Be prepared to take the ASCP registry by reviewing program courses and taking a comprehensive MLT Exit exam.
- Be workforce prepared by reflecting on their professional skills and experiences.
- Demonstrate a specific lab skill well enough to teach others by video recording the skill.
- Compile a professional resume and cover letter.
- Log into Media Lab and complete required number of test questions per department throughout the semester. Urinalysis - 25 questions, Serology - 25 questions, Blood Bank - 50 questions, Chemistry - 50 questions, Microbiology - 50 questions, Hematology - 50 questions, Immunology - 25 questions
- Review all MEDT courses.
