Course Description
This hybrid course provides precise and detailed information on image analysis and pathology of the chest, abdomen, upper and lower extremities, shoulder girdle, hip and pelvis, and upper and lower gastrointestinal system. Reading assignments and preparation time are included. Skills acquired in this course enable the student to understand the importance of determining adequate radiographs.
Prerequisite(s)
XRAY 1014 - Must be completed prior to taking this course. XRAY 1033 and XRAY 1316 - Must be taken at the same time as this course.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 75% on written exams pertaining to the anatomy, positioning, pathology, image quality, and associated medical terminology of the thoracic viscera, abdomen, upper extremities, shoulder girdle, lower extremities, hip and pelvis, and digestive system.
  • Evaluate radiographic images to determine positioning errors of the thoracic viscera, abdomen, upper extremities, shoulder girdle, lower extremities, hip and pelvis, and digestive system.
  • Evaluate radiographic images to determine common pathologic conditions of the thoracic viscera, abdomen, upper extremities, shoulder girdle, lower extremities, hip and pelvis, and digestive system.
  • Discuss and develop documentation for patient clinical history.
  • Interpret medical terminology utilized in radiography and radiography medical reports.
  • Demonstrate comprehension of proper patient transportation utilizing a wheelchair and gurney.
  • Examine universal precautions and blood-borne pathogens associated precautions.
  • Identify fluoroscopy and tomography equipment components.
  • Recognize the structures demonstrated in routine radiographic images covered in this course.
