Course Description
This course examines science/mathematical concept development in young children through the utilization of hands-on activities in the child care environment. Focus is on the development of problem-solving skills and methods for encouraging exploration and curiosity.
Prerequisite(s)
ECED 1513 - Must be taken either prior to or at the same time as this course.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities which promote decision-making and problem-solving with specific emphasis on math and science concepts.
- Demonstrate an understanding of preoperational thought as it leads to operational functioning.
- Provide developmentally appropriate materials and structured environments to aid in a young child’s concept development.
