Course Description
Students will learn to advise clients on practical fitness routines. Topics will include properly screening and evaluation clients, designing and implementing individual exercise programs, and managing personal training services. The course includes preparation for certification/training exams from the American College of Sports Medicine and National Strength and Conditioning Association.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Conduct and interpret a health screening questionnaire/PARQ and be able to assess each client for risks;
- Perform a fitness assessment test battery on each client, assess results
- Demonstrate the proper execution of a blood pressure measurement and body composition test
- Design a comprehensive strength, flexibility and cardiovascular program based on the client’s results and goals
- Develop motivational and educational methods to assist with client’s adherence
- Demonstrate proper lifting technique using free weights and equipment
- Describe or demonstrate modifications of exercise programs for special populations
- Function within the scope of a practice, applying legal concepts as appropriate when working with individual clients.
