Course Description
This class combines Yoga and Pilates into one low-impact workout that focuses on connecting the body and mind through breath and dynamic movement. Emphasis will be on movements that build a strong core (abdominal and back muscles); enhance strength, muscular symmetry, alignment flexibility, grace and coordination; and develop long, lean, and flexible muscles. Additional benefits include more strength, enhanced concentration and memory, better energy and sleep.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Emphasize the physical and psychological values and benefits of strength, balance and stretching movements
  • Instill a motivation to retain a regular exercise program
  • Improve the components of physical fitness
  • Translate the rhythm and feel of the music to body and movement.
  • Muscle-memory is a function of practice. (Involves the integration of the mind and muscle)
  • Modify movements to meet individual ability.
  • Individual creativity in movement is easier in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.
  • Identify the relationship between various movements and their effect on specific muscle groups.
  • Understand the physiology and psychology of Yoga and Pilates
