Course Description
This course provides the fundamental principles of successful growing, harvesting, storing, and marketing of fruit and vegetable crops. In addition, sustainable agriculture, plant development, composting, and food safety will be studied.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify the major fruit and vegetable crops,
  • Describe the basics of harvesting, marketing, processing, and storing garden produce,
  • Describe proper soil, water, nutrient, and pest and disease control methods.
  • Identify sustainable agriculture practices,
  • Identify careers in the fruit and vegetable production industry.
