Course Description
The purpose of this course is to develop the student's ability to analyze and diagnose landscape plant health problems; prescribe treatment alternatives; apply pesticides properly and safely; and prepare for the Illinois Pesticide Operators/Applicators exam.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify insect pests, pathogenic, and non-pathogenic diseases
- Diagnose common plant health problems
- Select pesticides and alternatives for pest control
- Select and calibrate pesticide application equipment
- Calculate pesticide formulation and dilution problems
- Practice safe use and handling of pesticides and application equipment
