Course Description

This course provides the student with an introduction to the eight critical quality management areas: customers, leadership, strategic planning, human resource development, information flow and knowledge management, project management and business results. Emphasis is on the industrial applications of Lean and Quality Management principles, tools, and techniques.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify benefits that can be gained from creating an effective organization.
  • Determine the purpose of benchmarking.
  • Determine how processes are improved.
  • Explain the tools and techniques related to lean organizations.
  • Explain structured problem-solving process.
  • Identify the key philosophical elements to delighting customers and generating organizational success.
  • Apply standards and criteria to support effective quality management systems.
  • Determine the difference between satisfaction and perceived value.
  • Explain how effective leaders manage by fact and with knowledge of variation.
  • Create strategic plans that give an effective organization a competitive edge.
  • Explain how employees create an effective organization.
  • Identify elements of effective supply chain management.
  • Calculate good measures of performance.
