Course Description
This course provides students with core competencies and the foundational knowledge to understand the supply chain. Learning materials include PDF textbook and e-learning modules. The Course includes modules on: the global supply chain, the logistics environment, safety, safe equipment operation, material handling equipment, quality control, workplace communication, teamwork and problem solving and using computers. Upon completion, students will have the opportunity to earn the Certified Logistics Associate Certification through the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC).
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe principal elements of supply chain logistics
- Explain basic quality audits
- Explain effective methods for communications throughout the supply chain
- Discuss examples of effective oral and written communications in logistics workplace
- Describe a high-performance team
- Construct team goals
- Explain commonly used computer systems and software applications in supply chain logistics
- Identify technologies used to capture and store logistics information
- Identify and discuss the roles and responsibilities within supply chain logistics
- Identify major security requirement applicable to the logistics environment

- List types of loading equipment within supply chain logistics
- Identify safety principles and practices in the work environment
