Course Description
This course is a continuation of SPAN 1514 with introduction of the preterite and subjunctive verbs along with emphasis on reading. A research project and oral presentation will be required.

- Indirect Object Pronouns. Expressing likes and dislikes. Talking about the past Part 1.
- Talking about the past part 2: Irregular Preterites. Part 3: Preterit of stem changing verbs. Double Object Pronouns.
- Talking about the past part 4. Descriptions and habitual actions in the past. Imperfect of regular and irregular verbs. Interrogative words. Superlatives
- Talking about the past part 5: Preterit and Imperfect together. Relative pronouns and reciprocal actions
- Influencing others. Tu (informal) command forms. Present subjunctive introduction Part 1. Expressing desires and requests , subjunctive part 2
- Use of subjunctive part 3, expressing feelings, Ojalá, part 4 : expressing uncertainty, part 5 expressing doubt and denial
- Expressing unplanned and unexpected events, por vs para, past participles used as adjectives, and present perfect forms
- Talking about future and conditional forms
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Recognize and differentiate the Spanish sounds, words, and idiomatic expressions
- Handle conversations on everyday subjects in the Spanish language.
- Write journals and short story in the past in Spanish.
- Read and comprehend Spanish texts.
- Understand various aspects of Spanish culture and community
