Course Description
This course is taught at a study abroad site. Survey of major writers from 1800 to the present. IAI: H3 913.
Prerequisite(s)
Appropriate assessment score or ENGL 1422 with a grade of C or better - Must be taken either prior to or at the same time as this course.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Compute the stress, strain, and deformation in a member carrying axial, tensile or compressive loads.
- Evaluate stress using Mohr’s Circle.
- Compute direct shear stress.
- Compute bending stress.
- Compute torsional shear stress and deformation.
- Compute the stress due to loading in beams.
- Consider stress concentrations in stress analysis.
- Compute shear stress in beams.
- Compute the deflection in beams due to a variety of loading and supports.
- Compute resultant stress due to axial, shear, and bending effects.
