Course Description
This course is for students who have not yet committed to a major and who want to explore their academic options. Topics will include the major/career decision-making process, including self-assessment, majors and careers options, and action plans. In addition, students will explore career interests, skills, abilities, and work-related values to develop an informed educational and career plan.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Examine/reexamine their career goals. Clarify their interests, values and skills, and learn how they relate to different majors, careers and opportunities at Kankakee Community College.
  • Improve career decision making through self-assessment
  • Understand the decision making process, and how to develop an action plan for choosing a major, degree, or certificate.
  • Be familiar with career resources to assist with learning and career research.
  • Develop career skills such as networking, interviewing, and resume and cover letter composition.
