Course Description

This course covers basic principles and procedures of personnel administration. Topics include: job analysis, staffing, training, performance appraisal, compensation, and labor relations.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Anticipate forces that influence the supply of and demand for employees by developing HR plans
  • Ensure sufficient availability of diversity of individuals, meeting affirmative action requirements, and complying with equal opportunity regulations
  • Select and maintain an adequate supply of qualified employees.
  • Conduct HR development through orientation and training of new employees, job skills training, and retraining of current employees.
  • Developing compensation and benefits by designing and refining basic wage, salary, incentive, and benefit programs
  • Ensure the health and safety of employees by reducing and/or eliminating accidents, hazardous work environments, and ensuring workplace security.
  • Address labor/management relations by communicating and updating HR policies and rules, and addressing employee rights issues
