It is possible for a student to take a small grouping of courses which, taken as a unit, may satisfy requirements for a particular position within the automotive technology field. The student may make written application to the Office of Admissions and Registration to receive written verification of completion of the certificate program.

  • Identify basic manual transmission, rear differential, and u-joint components.
  • Explain basic clutch operation, theory, and repair.
  • Explain manual transmission operation, repair, and power flow.
  • Explain universal joint’s function and operation.
  • Explain differential operation and theory.
  • Identify automatic transmission/transaxle components.
  • Perform general transmission and transaxle diagnosis.
  • Perform transmission/transaxle maintenance and adjustment.
  • Perform transmission/transaxle repair.
  • Perform disassembly and assembly of an automatic transmission/transaxle.
